Week 1 Parts: A. Group Leader- Ashley (Describe the main characters in your text. What makes them interesting? What is their story or background? Why are you drawn to them? Conversely, are there any characters that you just cannot stand? Why not?) The main characters include Andie, North, Carter, Alice, and Mrs. Crumb. What makes Andie interesting is that she was married to North and she still has feelings for him but she is engaged to Will Spencer. North is Andie's ex-husband. He was left custody of his niece and his nephew that live in a castle that might be haunted. Carter is North's nephew and he is Alice's brother. Carter loves to read comic books and he also likes to draw. Alice is Carter's sister. She doesn't talk much and likes her doll. She is emotionally attached to the house that they live in. Mrs. Crumb is the nanny that was living in the house since she was in her teens. She is not a very good nanny. Well, I am somewhat drawn to the characters because they all have a different background and their own personality. I like all the characters except for Mrs. Crumb. She has a bad attitude toward the children and to Andie. She seems to get more in the way than she does helping.
B-C. Questioner and Quotation Finder- Nikki (Share and discuss selected quotations, using Save The Last Word Techniques. Share questions with the group, as well as post the questions and answers on)
1. Do you think that Andie will end up with Will? 2. Do you think that North is crazy for sending Andy to deal with the children? 3. If you were North, would you send your ex-wife to do your dirty work? 4. Do you think that there is a reason North hadn't been down to see the children more often? 5. Do you think that North will regret not seeing the children more often?
"He couldn't help but notice the confined way she clipped her hair back." "She remembered that desk. She didn't know what it was but that desk always got to her." "The mahogany stood as a barrier between them, even then, as they were divorced." "She used to flow as if she was music." "I have tried 3 nannies and all left claiming the house haunted. I know you can get to the bottom of this."
D. Summarizer- Alexis (Post the meeting summary after class) Today, December 3rd was our first book club meeting. Our group consists of Ashley Zufolo, Nikki Konikow and myself(Alexis Ericksen). A. Group Leader: Alexis (Discuss the type of language that your book contains. Is it easy to read? Conversational? "Classic"? Does it use a lot of words you don't understand? What grade level do you think the book i written at, and why?)
There are some sentences that are easy to read, but other sentences are very mature. Yes, this book is conversational. This book is not classic. There are a few difficult words that we had to look up in the dictionary. We think that this book is written at a high school level, but it is written to interest different age groups. It's high school level because there really aren't many terms or sentences that we didn't understand.

D. Summarizer: Nikki (Meeting Summary)
This week in book club, Alexis was the group leader, Ashley was the questioner and quote finder, and I am the Summarizer. We discussed Ashley's questions, and went over her quotes. Alexis helped us discuss the language in the book. We all agreed it would probably be at our level of reading. I think this week in book club was successful overall.
A. Group Leader (Discuss the tone or mood of the book)- Nikki I think that the tone of the book is a bit more mixed than most books I have read in the past. At times there is a light and airy feel to this book, yet at other times it has a very serious tone. Over all, however, I think this book's mood is more along the border line of serious. This book isn't only about the romance between North and Andy, but about the safety of the children, Carter and Alice. This book is about family and ghosts and how they get through everything to make the family work. It has a serious mood to it.
B-C. Questioner and Quotation Finder-Alexis
Questions:
1. How do you think everything is going to play out with both North and Will at the castle?
They will most likely compete for Andies attention.
2. Do you think that Andie is going to get back together with North now that she broke up with Will?
Andie will most likely get back together with North considering the fact that she still has feelings towards him.
3. Why do you think Andie keeps saying that she doesn't want children, even though she is great with them?
She doesn't know whether or not she will be able to put up with them.
4. What do you think happened to the ghost at the end of Alice's bed? Why do you think it is so obsessed with Alice?
She died tragically and is stuck at the castle. The ghost is most likely obsessed with her because she knew Alice and is at the end of her bed watching her.
5. Do you think Andy is crazy for believing in ghosts? Do you believe in ghosts?
Andie is somewhat crazy for believing in ghosts. No, we don't believe in ghosts.
Quotes:
1. "They'd filled into the entrance hall and then into the Great Hall--"This is amazing."
2. "I'm having a hard time with this," Andie said, holding onto the raveling edges of her sanity while she stared at the thing. It was a ghost. It was definitely a ghost . She was talking to a ghost. They were both ghosts. There were ghosts. We have ghosts."
3. "Stay away from the children, Andie said, and the note of dead seriousness must have soaked in through Kelly s big hair because she lost her smile."
4. "Oh, good, Andie said as they reached the library. You can bond with her later. For now, meet the kids. Don't upset them. She opened the library door and shoved him."

She had very good questions and quotes. Her questions were detailed and led to some very good discussions between the three of us. Her quotes were very interesting. As you can see I am summarizer. This book club was successful.
Week 4 A. Ashley This book builds very strong images. While reading this book you can picture everything that is going on. The author uses strong images. I think that she uses these images so that it hooks the reader. I think that the image is great in this book.

As our final book discussion comes to an end we have decided that we would definitely recommend this book to others. Not only does this contain descriptive words, but it also misleading in a good way. This topic has definitely been discussed in other books as the topic is love which is commonly discussed in books. Nikki: I think that it was awesome how the author made it seem like the story was over, but then brought in another problem. 2. After reading this book, what do you think the most shocking part was? Nikki: I think that they never truly fell out of love. 4. How do you think Will felt when Andie told him they were through? Nikki: Pissed off. Alexis: He felt broken inside. 5. Would you read books by this author again and why? Nikki: Absolutely, I've already read 4 more by her. Alexis: Yes because the book was well written, good descriptive words, and good turn of events. As well as being misleading and intriguing. Quotes : "She yanked his shirt up, wanting his skin on hers, wanting all of him, and he pulled the shirt off as she shoved her jeans the rest of the way down, tangling her ankles and almost knocking herself over in Crumb's hallucinogenic pantry." "Andie kissed her check, and Alice suddenly wrapped her arms around Andie's neck and pulled her down." " Andie climbed the stairs and found Alice in her room, Rose Bunny under one arm, and her comforter under the other." " Including all the sex that we had on that desk. Knowing Merrill, he'll probably be critiquing your style and my thighs."
